How To Eat Right When You Eat Out?

In the past few years diners have become more aware of healthy eating. Finding a healthy dining experience is not difficult these days, especially with all the instant access to information via the Internet. Almost 70% of all searches are not done on mobile smart photos, and there are many apps and directories to find what you crave.

Search Well

Simply search for the type of food you want, whether that be an American grill, continental, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Chinese, or any other specialty. Add the location you want to go to, like Lower Manhattan restaurants, NYC downtown, financial district,or other neighborhood designation. If they have a Google knowledge graph, be sure to read the reviews to see what others thought of the place you’re interested in.

Specialty Listings

There are far more specialty listings that we can list here, but a few good ones for restaurants, bars and bistros include Yelp, Grubbhub, Zagat, Village Voice, TripAdvisor, AmericanTowns, and CitySearch. Again, be sure to read the reviews. Some listings will even provide the ingredients used, and/or other nutritional information -- like calories, gluten free or not, and other details to provide insight to what you’d be getting.

Consider The Hygiene

New York city has a strong health department, requiring eating establishments to list their health department ratings on or near the front door. This tells you right away how clean the kitchen and store rooms are. It  matters. Even the cleanliness of the staff can provide insight. If they're dressed well and neatly, the odds are the proprietor pays attention to detail.
